Rowdy Foundation

Rickie O’Neal Winslow Development For Youth (ROWDY, Inc.) organization was founded in 2003. Upon returning to Houston following a stellar pro basketball career in Europe, Rickie, a former member of “Phi Slamma Jama” basketball team at the University of Houston vows to give back to serve the communities that are responsible for his successful career, education and professional development.

ROWDY’s mission is to eradicate illiteracy & improve computer skills among children. We reach out through well coordinated intervention programs that focus on education and childhood enrichment programs.

These programs not only focus on improving performance in core academic subjects such as Math, English and Reading and teaching youth life skills, but give support and guidance through critical developmental stages. ROWDY, Inc. serves economically disadvantaged children and youth in Fort Bend, Brazoria, Harris and surrounding counties.

The Computer Challenge program focuses on improving academics. Youths are invited to participate in a one day event to demonstrate their academic and computer skills. Our last challenge included nearly five hundred (500) youths; we expect this number to possibly double for our next challenge.

The Character Plus program focuses on improving behaviors. The program addresses the importance of leadership, cooperation and team work. It is a mentoring program that consists of character labs, workshops and camps designed to improve character of our youth. These workshops educate and help to increase awareness of and decrease drug and substance abuse, violence and gang activities. It also teaches youth about resolving conflicts, and health and wellness.

The ROWDY Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization. For further information or donations, please visit www.rowdyfoundation.org.
